4th of July was so much fun, but needless to say I did not stick to my macros!

I’m not too upset about it though because that is why I do the whole macros thing anyways- 95% of the time I’m eating just what I need to fuel my body and be healthy. That other 5% I can indulge and fall off the wagon a little bit without freaking out.

That’s not to say there aren’t any consequences. After paying close attention to what I’ve been putting in my body these last few weeks (in which I’ve by no means been perfect), I really feel the effects of chips, soda, and SourPatch Kids. So now its all about picking right up where I left off.

To start things off I make sure that I am taking some type of probiotic supplement to make sure that my digestion is doing its all on my behalf. Right now I’m doing a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a tall glass of water in the late afternoon before dinner. Its pretty gross, but I follow it up with a little bit of honey to take the sting out of the taste. I do this 3-4 times per week at the moment and I feel a difference!

This morning I also had my Jump-Start Smoothie, which is designed to give you energy to kick-start your day, extra nutrients, and some anti-inflammatory ingredients to help cure the hangover from yesterday (whether it be chips or beer).

everyBODYgirl Jump-Start Smoothie:

Ingredients:
1-scoop low carb protein shake (my pick is BodyTech French Vanilla)
1-big handful of spinach leaves
1-big handful of kale
1-TSP chia seeds
1-handful mixed frozen berries
1-TBSP almond butter
1-little nub of peeled turmeric root or 1-TSP of turmeric powder
8-oz coconut water

Blend with ice and enjoy!

This smoothie is great as a quick and healthy breakfast a few times a week or as a way to add some extra nutrients after indulging. Let me know if you’ve tried it and what  you think.
